Homemade Easter Wreaths At Online Stores

By Dominique Martin

Many people enjoy making their own wreaths and there are many online examples to choose from. However, there are just as many people who do not have the time to spend on such a project. They are also afraid of buying expensive materials and then making a mess. It is possible to buy beautiful homemade Easter wreaths today from many online stores.

These items are often not that expensive when one considers all the materials used in their construction. Many of them are beautifully constructed by those with a real skill for combining colors and textures. They are often made to last and attention is given to every last detail. There are ones available to suit every taste in all sizes, shapes, colors and styles.

A shabby chic style will be perfectly complimented with burlap, pastel eggs and twigs. Twigs scattered with soft pastel colored eggs and studded with pink beads add a gracious touch. A stylish choice for a more modern home would be a bunny created out of boxwood and attached to a wooden base. A cheery yellow wreath with yellow daffodils and a big yellow bow brightens up any door.

Eggs are used in all sorts of sizes, colors and made from many different materials like wood, plastic or fabric. From large ones to the tiniest little ones, they are arranged in hundreds of different ways. Ribbons, moss, twigs and flowers are creatively combined with them with eye-catching results.

Many of these items are round in shape but other shapes like ovals and squares are also available. A bunny shape created out of boxwood attached to a wooden base is a simple and stylish option. Grapevine twisted into an oval shape with a built-in basket as a nest is filled with eggs nestled on a bed of moss. Sizes also vary from large, festive ones to more delicate ones with fine textures.

The front door is often the chosen spot for such an item. If the item contains any soft materials, this door should have a large enough overhang for protection. A screened porch is a good spot for such items. However, one can also be hung over a fireplace or on any inside wall.

The flowers used may be dried or they may be created from fabric, paper or a number of other materials. Spring flowers are associated with Easter and ones like daisies and daffodils are often used. Wild flowers create a more informal arrangement when combined with casually woven twigs and tiny eggs. Roses, tulips and lilies are some other favorites that are often used.

Items that are hand made take much longer to create. Great attention is given to every detail and much artistry goes into combining all the elements. This means that orders have to be placed in time as stocks may be limited and go quickly. Choosing a reputable supplier is important to ensure that a product arrives on time and is packaged correctly so it is not damaged in any way.

Different Uses For A Flower Wreath

By Patty Goff

A wreath can be made of a variety of materials, including branches, twigs, leaves and fruit. However, one of the most commonly used materials is flowers. A flower wreath can be used for a variety of reasons and occasions, from decorative to celebratory to mourning.

Flowers are positioned or woven into a circular shape to create the wreath, which can be practically any size when finished. A floral wreath can be small enough to fit on the head or large enough to cover the side of a building. In different countries and cultures, it is used for a plethora of reasons and occasions.

One religious occasion where garlands are commonly placed on front doors or as part of interior decor is a Christmas wreath. Many wreaths are made of evergreens, symbolizing strength due to the fact that evergreens last throughout the year despite the harshest weather condition. Considering that poinsettias are considered to be the traditional flower of Christmas, a garland made of poinsettias is the perfect decorative item for this time of year.

You would probably have seen floral wreaths at memorial services or at a funeral. They have been used for this purpose as far back as Ancient Greece, where the circle is considered to be a symbol of ongoing life. Even the different flowers used in this type of garland are considered symbolic of resurrection and never ending life.

It is said that different types of flowers used in a funeral wreath symbolize different sentiments. In England in early modern times, the death of a young maiden was commemorated with a funeral procession led by another young lady of the same age as the deceased, carrying one made of white flowers to symbolize purity and innocence. Wreaths used in war memorials can be made using poppy flowers.

Floral garlands worn on the head have become more and more popular recently. This is the case with brides who have a hippie or bohemian-styled wedding, particularly one that takes place outdoors. However, floral headpieces and crowns have been a staple item in pagan rituals and festivities for centuries.

One of the most popular festivals where the garland holds particular importance is the Maypole Festival, in observance of May Day. The garland is placed at the top of a pole which young men must race to climb. The winner wears the piece on his head. There is belief that the flowers contained in the item must be picked at a certain time of morning before the dew has dried, as there is magic in the dew.

An item like this is most commonly and consistently used as a decorative item in the home, and is very easy to make for those who like to do crafts. It is possible to get a plain base, which can then be decorated with the materials of choice using a lightweight floral wire. Alternatively, a more advanced craft individual can try their hand at making a base themselves to then decorate. There are a number of ways to do this with items like foam, wire or cardboard.

So Many Fall Wreath Ideas

By Patty Goff

The season that precedes winter always brings special charms in the form of door decorations. There are numerous fall wreath ideas that welcome visitors at the front door. So many do it yourself methods are available in magazines and online. The materials and decorations to use all depend on what is at hand and your desire to be as creative as you wish.

Relatively simple equipment in the form of pliers, glue and staples are used to combine natural looking decorations. When you wish to blend yours in with the surrounding natural elements, you are wise using pine cones and actual leaves that were elegantly dropped from the trees. By choosing red, yellow, brown and orange leaves, you are already well on your way to that earthy, yet colorful decoration.

You will find that circular or oval shapes work the best and are easiest to create yourself. Once you have decided on what to use and how it should look you can get to work. A quick walk around the house will surprise you on how many elements there are to make use of. An example of a perfect base for the wreath is old foam pool noodles that the children no longer use. Irrelevant of the base, it is good to start off by wrapping it with a brownish rope or wheat to start with. These can be secured in place by using sewing pins or florist pins.

The following steps are to add seeds, nuts, leaves and those famous pine cones to the basic shape. It is wise to use strong adhesive for larger objects and thin wiring will also pin them down tightly. There is no rule against using fresh fruits and these will need to be tied down with wiring.

Consider that fresh fruit as main elements may not last as long. Citrus fruits will mostly maintain their shape for longer periods whereas berries and other softer fruits will decay. As the citrus fruits harden it will result in a rustic look which is most appropriate considering that dry leaves, pines and favored fall materials is used side by side.

Some of the most favored elements to use have always been corn on the cob, especially ones that vary in color. These are perhaps the simplest to assemble at home and whether you choose to create bunches or a round shaped art piece, any adhesive or wiring can be well disguised in between the corn kernels. Corn cobs also withstand the colder weather better and are not known to give off any odors while they decay.

Although many creative concepts show the use of organic elements, there are other decorative techniques that can be used such as materials, ribbons, plastics and card boards. These mentioned fabrics will easily attach to each other by means of glue and will lead to grander color schemes. There are lovely artificial flowers available in craft shops as well as patterned ribbons to choose from.

Whether you choose organic or fabric options, you can achieve the perfect balance of colors and materials and turn the yard, porch and front door into an inviting art form that will last during the month of autumn. With luck the next door neighbors will create beautiful ones of their own.
