When Considering Fly Fishing Nets

By Flora Vinson

Making sure you purchase the correct fly fishing nets can prove to be rather difficult. A simple search of these net types will result in many different types. To choose properly you will want to ensure that you understand the differences between each style.

One of the most common net types is called the landing net. These come in a variety of sizes and will also have a few different types of material used to make up the net. These will have a finer mesh that is easiest on the fish itself.

Look for these types to be attached by the use of a magnet. The magnet allows you to quickly gain access to the net whenever you need it. Often you will see many fisherman carry this type of net on their backpacks or on their belts.

You will also find a boat net. This style has a deeper net itself with a potential downside. Often if you are not careful during use you can end up snagging both a fish and the hook in it's mouth inside the mesh. Often making it very difficult to take the fish out without harming it in the process.

There is also a bag style mesh primarily made form rubber. This style will not suffer from any tangling if a hook is stuck in any fish's mouth after capture. You will generally see these larger devices use a ring attachment on the top end. This make it easy to clip on to your pants or back pack.

With so many different fly fishing nets available it can be a tough choice. To make it easier you should fully understand how each type works. Next take the time to also consider the size of your game. The bigger the game the bigger the net you will need to use.
