Send Flowers On These Quirky Holidays

By Lizbeth Nathaniel

We always think about sending flowers to someone on their birthday and Mom always receives a bouquet for Mother's Day. In addition, we also typically give flowers for Valentine's Day, anniversaries and the arrival of a new baby. However, there are plenty of other fun occasions when giving flowers is both appropriate and a fun way to share a little love.

One fun occasion invented by the founder of Hallmark card company is intended to give tribute to friendship. And quite suitably it has been known as Friendship Day or International Friendship Day celebrated every first weekend of august. Such an occasion is fit to remember those who has been good friends and has been a celebration since 1919.

Apart from Father's Day and Mother's Day, grandparents have their own special occasion to celebrate too. On the first Sunday after Labor day, Grandparent's Day is being celebrated and surely Grandma or Grandpa would love to receive flowers or live plants on this occasion. Of course, sending flowers from a San Clemente florist should also be coupled with a phone call full of endearing words from you or maybe even a dinner out or in their home prepared by you.

One unique holiday that few Americans probably know about is Sweetest Day. This is celebrated only in the United States and this day is observed on the third Saturday of October every year. The first Sweetest Day was celebrate in 1921 and the purpose was to spend a day remembering the sick, the poor, the elderly and orphans as well as giving thanks to those who have been kind to us. For this day, send flowers to someone who has truly given you some support and love throughout the years or perhaps bring some large floral arrangements to a retirement or nursing home to make the home a bit more cheerful. In addition, consider making a donation to a food bank or homeless shelter or perhaps donating some of your time at one of these places.

Maybe you know someone truly fond of Halloween making a spooky flower arrangement rather appropriate to give. You will find that these days online shops offer Halloween bouquets which feature the colors of Halloween and for some, it is even apt to have the flowers arranged in a Jack-o-Lantern or a pumpkin. You could also ask if they can add decorations like bats, spiders or a witch's hat, even.

How about sending something special for a friend who has been extra devout on ensuring that the environment is well protected come the Earth Day or Arbor Day celebration? You could choose a basket from a Dana Point florist with assorted live plants as a fitting gift for him or her because they can plant these gifts and enjoy them for the years to come.
