Sylvan Lake is famous for its green parks, beautiful lakes. The town is located in Central Alberta, around 25 km west of Red Deer city. There's a long freshwater lake named Sylvan Lake. Tourists who visit Sylvan Lake are attracted by the fun activities on the lake.

Things To Do In Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake is the perfect destination to come for family at any time of the year. There are exciting summer activities; there's lots of winter fun. Tourists coming to Sylvan Lake in summer will enjoy various relaxing activities such as sailing, jet skiing, water sports, golfing. The influx of summer visitors saw an increase of businesses opening that were not seasonally dependant, nor were they tourist dependant.

Weather In Sylvan Lake

With relatively cold and snowy winters, cool springs and mild summers, the climate in Sylvan Lake is said to be climate. It has average temperature of about 14.6 degrees in winter and 15.7 degrees in summer. It rains about 398.3 millimetres or 15.68 inches and snows approximately 158.2 centimetres every year.

It is one of the largest towns in the province with a 2013 population measurement of 13,327 people and is now eligible for city status in the province of Alberta. The town's population is relatively young, with 33.2% of the population 19 years of age or under; while the retirement population sits at 6.7%.

Information Gathering

For those interested in news stories and keeping on top of things, Sylvan Lake has one local newspaper known as the Sylvan Lake News and it also gets newspapers from nearby Red Deer. It has no broadcast television stations of its own, but does receive broadcast news from Edmonton at all three of the big channels. There are no radio stations in Sylvan Lake, but it does receive signals from Red Deer to keep listeners up-to-date and happy.

Comparing to other areas in the country, housing here is comparatively cheap ranging from $99,000 to over $1 million dollars. The town supplies its residents with enough facilities like street maintenance, water and sewers, waste management and gas and electricity services.

There is also a community centre, Aquatic Centre, Multi-Plex, Multi-Campus and many trails parks and sports fields to satisfy anyone who would love to rent facilities in the town. Many indoor and outdoor activities and two provincial parks are here to entertain you.
