Planning A Vacation? Don't Miss These Travel Tips!

By Phyliss Calvani

You are probably second-guessing your vacation plans this year because of the bad economy. The following article provides you with information to help you sift through all the choices and to make your travel plans both thorough and efficient.

Make sure your pet is ready when traveling with it. Keep their leash on when you are around others at tourist spots. If your pet is not ready to behave in public, then it is best to leave him with a friend or kennel service when you travel.

It is customary to tip any hotel staff that makes your stay easier. Standard tipping rates are a dollar per bag carried, and around $2-5 per day to the maid. Tipping the staff will make sure that you receive good service while you are visiting.

If your travels will take you to a port of call prior to your cruise, try to find a reasonably priced hotel with included parking and check in the night before. You may want to contact the hotel administration about potential deals that they offer on parking even if it doesn't look like any are available.

When flying on a plane, you should plan ahead because an airline won't always be able to meet your basic needs, even when the flight lasts for many hours. Pack your headphones, a blanket and even a pillow if you feel like you will use them. You may also want to think of bringing your own food so you can eat what you want.

Be sure to bring along your children's car seats if you are planning to get a rental car for your trip. When you rent your a car, it is unlikely that you will have a good car seat, so bring your own.

It is not a good idea to exchange currency while in a different country. There are safer and easier options to procure foreign currency. Use a bank ATM whenever possible. The ATM and banks offer the going rate of exchange without the fees, and even with the service charge it is usually less expensive than going to the currency exchange.

Be wary of travel-deal emails. Unless you've opted into an email list about travel, just mark as spam and delete any such emails you receive.

Get a workout in before you get on the plane. Being on a flight for a long period of time can be tiresome. You may find your back or legs cramping from sitting in the same position for too long. Stretching or working out before taking a flight can help reduce soreness.

Planning a trip can be very daunting. You can greatly simplify the process of making successful travel plans, however, by obtaining the right knowledge and travel advice. Use the ideas in this article to help you plan your trip, hassle free.
