Always leave a copy of your travel itinerary with someone back at hom,e so that they can keep track of you. Be sure to include phone numbers and addresses so that they will be able to contact you if needed. You never know what sort of emergency might come up while you are away.

To make sure nothing gets forgotten in a hotel room, take a photographs of everything you're bringing with you. As you're packing up to go home, you can use your photographs as a reference to make sure you've packed everything you've needed to. For easy access, simply take the photographs with your cell phone.

When you are traveling by bus and you stop for maintenance or layovers, make sure you take all valuables with you when you get off of the bus. Passengers are able to get on and off of the bus at many of these stops and this gives the the opportunity to steal things.
